Creating a website is not a rocket science. Gone are the days where you outsource website creation task to web design companies or freelancers and shell out good amount of money. Don’t do that now! I can help you to create a website on your own easily and quickly without coding ability or web designing skills.

Types of Websites You Can Create

  • Personal Website or Blog
  • Business Website
  • E-commerce or Online Shopping Website
  • Forums or Community Website
  • Photography or Portfolio Website
  • Business Directory or Classifieds Website
  • Resume or CV showcase

You can create a website for free or go for paid options. Paid options or so called premium plans are very inexpensive these days. Creating a website for free is good to start with, to learn the features and functionalities of a website platform. However, a free website comes with many limitations on the features and resources you can use which is not recommended for professional or business websites. Likewise, a free website always comes under a sub-domain of the free website service provider like (YourWebsiteName.TheirWebsite.com).

On the other hand, you can use a custom domain name (YourWebsiteName.com) under premium website plans. You should really consider a premium plan if you want to create a professional website. Premium website is highly recommended to get good rankings in search engines like Google and hence large number of visitors to your site. You must consider a premium plan if you are creating a website for your business or you are planning to generate income from your website (make money online website).

Step-by-Step Guide to Create a Website

Let’s create your awesome website now!

  1. Go to WordPress and click Sign-up or Create a Website button

I prefer WordPress as it’s the most popular and very powerful platform for any type of website you want to create. WordPress also has mobile apps where you can manage your website from your mobile conveniently. With WordPress, you can easily build professional websites with ZERO coding and web design or programming skills. You just need to concentrate on creating unique contents, leaving the technical aspects like speed and uptime to the WordPress team.

Alternatively, you can sign-up with your Google/Gmail account if you have one.

  4. Choose website address or domain name (YourWebsite.com)

Type your preferred website address. Choose .com as it’s very popular, easy to remember and highly recommended. Domain name is free if you choose any paid plans.

  5. Choose a website plan

You can choose any plan according to your requirements and budget. You have all the options like blogger, personal, premium, business and e-commerce websites. Website plans start from only $3/month on WordPress. When you have large number of visitors later and need advanced customization to your website, you can change or upgrade to a better plan any time easily from your WordPress dashboard.

  6. Make payment

You can pay by your credit card or using PayPal. When payment is complete, you will be logged in to your WordPress dashboard where your brand new website will be ready to rock! Congrats!

  7. Adjusting website settings

After your website is ready, you need to make some tweaks for optimal performance. It includes changing themes (select from pre-installed themes), connecting your website to your social media accounts for automatic sharing of contents each time you post, adding users or editors or moderators to your website and assigning built-in roles (what they can do or cannot do), changing general settings such as website name, article categories or tags, comment options and more. It takes only few minutes to do this and you can do this on your own. On the left side menu under Configure, go to each options and check. More on each of these settings will be discussed in the next part of website creation guide.

  8. Familiarizing with the WordPress menu

Time to add contents to your website! Go to Manage section and click Add to create pages or posts. Use Posts to create your main articles. Pages are used to create an about me page, contact me page, disclaimer or disclosure page, privacy policy page and so on. More on creating awesome posts will be discussed in the next part of this guide.

  9. Finally, Create your first post!

A post contains a title and the main content. When inside the main content, you can easily add blocks by clicking the + button on the top-left of the screen. Blocks include type of section like paragraph, image, heading, gallery, list, attachments and many more options to choose from. It is recommended to add categories and tags(from right-side menu) to each of your posts for user-friendliness. The advantage of WordPress is that your post will be automatically saved each seconds (except when internet is off!) so that you will not lose your efforts. When you finish creating a content, Preview (top-right) and make sure everything is perfect like spelling and grammars, content arrangement etc. Finally, click Publish to make your awesome post live.
